~ Greystone Wedding ~
Katie’s roots were deeply intertwined with Barberton, extending beyond a mere spot on the map. It held her family’s foundation, with her parents growing up there and creating a backdrop filled with sentimental value. The Lakeside United Methodist Church, where her mother had spent countless Sundays, held a special place in her heart. When it came time to plan her wedding, Katie knew that she wanted to celebrate her heritage in this special place.
The church was the perfect setting for an intimate ceremony. The bride wore a timeless Lela Rose gown adorned with giant poppies, California’s state flower, a nod to her childhood home. She also had a hand-embroidered monogram sewn inside her dress as her “something blue.” To pay tribute to her grandfather, Katie’s gown hung on a hanger from his former clothing store in Barberton.
To complement the gown’s elegance, Katie donned stunning silver glitter Jimmy Choo heels. Her engagement ring, a breathtaking oval canary diamond flanked by round white diamonds, added a touch of sparkle. Meanwhile, her bridesmaids showcased gorgeous navy dresses in various styles and fabrics, each carrying bouquets of peonies and roses in shades of pink. Katie’s own bouquet consisted solely of lush raspberry pink peonies.
The church overlooks the beautiful Lake Anna, a natural blue glacial lake that is the heart of the city. Following the ceremony, Katie, Jon, and their bridal party walked to the lakeside gazebo for portraits, a cherished tradition in Katie’s family.
~ Greystone Wedding Reception ~
The reception unfolded at Akron’s historic Greystone Ballroom, meticulously curated by Teri Woodruff with Creative Transformations to reflect sophistication and romance. Dark purples, pinks, cream, and gold seamlessly intertwined, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Pink lavender uplighting cast a heavenly glow, while tall vases adorned with crystal strands brimmed with orchids, hydrangeas, and lush roses. Delicate bud vases holding pink roses and raspberry peonies provided balance amidst the floral arrangements.
Opting for an elegant yet relaxed atmosphere, the couple embraced a fluid seating arrangement without assigned seats, utilizing a mix of high-top and low-top tables. Dinner unfolded through various food stations in the ballroom, offering a relaxed culinary experience. Adding a touch of entertainment, Katie and Jon incorporated a photo booth and danced the night away with fun props.
