Stan Hywet Garden Wedding
– One of Josh and Lindsay’s favorite activities to do together is hiking. Like most autumn Saturday afternoons, they decided to go on a hike and were trying out a new trail at O’Neill Woods. (See their engagement session for this scenic location). Toward the end of the hike, they stopped at a bench where Josh proposed with the beautiful fall yellow and orange leaves surrounding them. Onto Lindsay’s finger Josh placed an incredible emerald cut, canary yellow diamond engagement ring.
When dating, Josh and Lindsay went to Stan Hywet together and fell in love with the site. “There’s so much beauty, nature and history there!” And because they both enjoy being outdoors and knew they wanted something outdoors, Stan Hywet just seemed like the perfect venue. Her wedding style was inspired by the beauty of nature – especially the beautiful gardens that can be found at Stan Hywet. She wanted to highlight lots of colors and have the entire event look very natural in an outdoor setting.
Lindsay wanted a dress that would look great in an outdoor setting, be timeless and have a stand out train. Her dress was very light and airy – perfect for the outdoors in August. On her gown was a beautiful scalloped lace pattern with flowers to tie into her wedding theme and a stunning flowing train. For her shoes Lindsay wore simple ivory slippers that were personalized with a message to Josh (see the photos below 🙂
With such an emphasis on flowers for this wedding, a unique bouquet filled with all types of flowers was a must. This was the most spectacular and large bouquet – packed full of a wide variety of vibrant and colorful flowers such as sunflowers, iris, and mums (just to name a few). Colorful arrangements of flowers wrapped around the fountain adjacent to the tea houses and were used to create a lattice filled with flowers behind the sweetheart table at the reception.
To highlight the beautiful gardens that are abundant at Stan Hywet, the bouquets and centerpieces weren’t traditional with just a few flower types and a few colors. Instead each table had a different flower variety and color, with flower names in lieu of table numbers. Lindsay wanted the reception to feel as though they stopped at every garden in Stan Hywet and picked handfuls of flowers. That theme of flowers was further highlighted by thousands of origami flowers hanging from the Carriage House ceiling.
Thank you Lindsay and Josh for sharing your beautiful day with us! Congratulations!
