~ Catholic and Greek Fusion Wedding ~
From Warren, Ohio to California, this long-distance relationship began in 2013 and blossomed into a wonderful life together. Sofia and Johnny met through Facebook and communicated constantly, first through messaging and eventually through phone calls and Skype. After a few months they made plans to meet up since Johnny was also from Warren, and they could finally get to know each other in person the next time he was home. They became a couple shortly after and have been going strong since! Sofia and Johnny’s adventurous spirits brought them closer together; they’re always out doing something and exploring together, and there’s no shortage of laughter and fun. After five years of being together, they have gotten close with each other’s friends and family, and value these relationships greatly.
Sofia and Johnny’s wedding day started with a ceremony at St. Peter Catholic Church, followed by another ceremony at St. Haralambos Greek Orthodox Church. Sofia wore an elegant, form-fitting gown with an open back and a slim belt. She wore her grandmother’s earrings as her ‘something blue’, as well as her grandmother’s bracelet. Sofia had her grandfathers’ and grandmothers’ names embroidered on the inside of her gown. She accentuated her bridal look with a fourteen-foot veil (you read that correctly!) secured in place with a delicate headpiece. Her bouquet was overflowing with white and blue flowers nestled on soft greens. Sofia’s bridesmaids wore floor-length charcoal dresses with cinched necklines. Their bouquets featured orange, blue, and white flowers, tying in the colors of the Fall. Johnny and his groomsmen sported navy suits with black lapels and chic black bowties. Both ceremonies provided exquisite settings for the couple to profess their love.
The reception was held at the iconic Gervasi Vineyard, where the ‘rustic elegance’ theme Sofia and Johnny envisioned came to life. Fall foliage and greenery decorated the tables, and simple white candles illuminated the décor. The cake was a stunning four-tiered design with the appearance of an etched tree. Small floral accents and ‘S+J’ decorated the cake. A special dance was shared between Johnny and his sister, Alexis, in honor of their late mother. Alexis asked Sofia to join them, and they were then joined by Jonny and Alexis’ father. This touching dance together created a truly special moment. A lighthearted Greek ‘dollar dance’ got the guests involved in the dancing and was a fun way to end the night.
Sofia and Johnny’s wedding day showcased their love for not only each other, but for each other’s’ friends and family members. They honored those that couldn’t be there with them while celebrating their future as a newlywed couple. Sofia and Johnny brought their perfect wedding vision to life, and it was a beautiful, special day. Their love was an honor to capture, and we wish them the best! Congratulations Sofia and Johnny!
Thank you Johnny and Sofia for sharing your beautiful day with us! Congratulations!
